David Were Oguttu- MSc, BBLT, Dip Med Ento

David is a Biomedical scientist specialized in Public Health Field Epidemiology with rich experience in

medical entomology. He holds MSc. Zoo-parasitology, BBLT of Makerere University, and a Diploma in

Medical Entomology. He has worked for the Uganda Ministry of Health since 2001 as a senior

Parasitologist and is a Manager for the Onchocerciasis Elimination Program. He leads the Uganda

Neglected Tropical Diseases laboratory team, which has provided evidence of onchocerciasis

elimination. He is currently a PhD student investigating drivers of persistent transmission of

schistosomiasis on Lakes Albert and Victoria. He has led and participated in several disease outbreak

investigations and control which include cholera and typhoid outbreaks.
